Orange Shirt Day
Orange Shirt Day is a national movement that takes place on September 30th. On this day, we remember and honour the children who were taken away to residential schools and reflect on the lasting impact this has had on Indigenous peoples. It is a time to come together in recognition, awareness, and support of the message that Every Child Matters as we continue the journey of Truth and Reconciliation.
This year, we are honoured to have our Orange Shirt design created by Rhiannon Deluca, a Grade 12 student, volunteer with Moccasin House, and a talented Jigger, Actress, and Visual Artist. Rhiannon’s artwork was created to recognize the importance of Orange Shirt Day, the ongoing path to reconciliation, and to carry forward the powerful message that Every Child Matters.
